Samara Kleinfinger, 12, told The Times last week that she and other red-haired students were summoned to the principal's office on Nov. 20. There already had been at least one attack, and administrators, alerted by students to the possibility of more, wanted to warn Samara and others to be careful. Samara said she was punched and kicked by six students on her way to the office.

whoa whoa whoa there now...
There was not a "kick a ginger day" episode of south park. The "Ginger Kids" episode never ever said anything like "kick a ginger"... it simply said "ginger kids don't have a soul".
This is obviously racially-motivated violence and should be treated as such.

No I know re actual title of south park episode. I didn't realize this wasn't an isolated school incident either.
From Vancouver Sun:
BRITISH COLUMBIA —
When Nanaimo high school student Aaron Mishkin appeared for classes Thursday, he heard his classmates talking about “kick-a-ginger day.”It was the first the 13-year-old redhead had heard about the online phenomenon, and initially he thought nothing of it.
“But then I left the class, and we have seven minutes to get to the next class, and I was amazed by the amount of people that kicked me along the way,” said Mishkin.
Over the course of the day, Mishkin figures he was kicked or hit about 80 times, all because of a Facebook group, apparently inspired by an episode of the satirical cartoon South Park that urged members to “kick a ginger” on Nov. 20.

Article now corrects name of South Park episode:
They were all taken into custody in connection with the attacks apparently spurred by a Facebook site and inspired by an episode of the animated "South Park" television show, "Ginger Kids." [Updated at 9:44 a.m.: A previous version of this post said the episode was titled "Kick-a-Ginger Day."]
