Get off yer ass and go down to a used bookstore already.
I wonder how much longer they're going to be able to continue charging $489 for the Kindle DX.

Yah I agree that needs at least a $100 slash in the short-run and a should be half that to really get a foothold in the mkt

I would consider an ebook reader if they would bring the price down to around $200. I have a really good quality HP laptop that cost me around $700, and an Asus EEE mini, with a 160GB harddrive and windows XP for less than $400. I can download ebooks from a variety of locations, including Sony's ebook store and the Asus isn't much bigger than the kindle readers. I can't see buying the DX for nearly $500 when the Asus is more than $100 less, especially when the kindle books are propietary. Not to mention magazine and newspapers through kindle require a subscription when I can read them online for the low price of seeing a few ads on the page.
